Undergraduates

Members of the Center for Reproductive Science welcome talented undergraduates into their laboratories for the purpose of obtaining hands-on experience in doing laboratory research. Undergraduates work with graduate students, technicians, postdocs and the lab director in carrying out funded research. Frequently, if the student satisfies the requirements, this research can be classified as "Independent Research" for credit. Additionally, the work can be presented for Honors in Biological Sciences. Many undergraduates also present papers at the Annual Minisymposium and may even coauthor papers in major national journals. Application for work in a laboratory is made directly to the laboratory director- the names of these directors and a description of their research can be found at this site under "Research Areas".

Graduate Program

Members of the Center for Reproductive Science at Northwestern University participate in three multidisciplinary graduate training programs.

The Integrated Graduate Program (IGP) is located with the Medical School on the Chicago Campus. The IGP is organized into nine curricular: cancer biology; cell biology; developmental biology; evolutionary biology; immunology and microbial pathogenesis; molecular biology and genetics; neurobiology; pharmacology and toxicology; and structural biology and biochemistry.

The Neuroscience Institute (NUIN) is a cross-campus program that is the central organization for neuroscience education and research at the University. It is organized into research and curriculum areas that include: behavioral neuroscience, cellular neuroscience, molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, and medical neuroscience.

The Interdepartmental Biological Sciences Graduate Program (IBiS) is located within the College of Arts and Sciences, the Technological Institute, and the School of Speech on the Evanston Campus, as well as within the Evanston Hospital. IBiS is organized into areas of concentration that include: biotechnology; cell and molecular biology; genetics and developmental biology; integrative biology; reproductive biology; and structural biology and biochemistry.
