Northwestern HIV / AIDS Research cited by Science magazineAlthough other universities receive more funding for HIV/AIDS research, Northwestern is named the institution with the greatest impact after National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) itself, Science magazine reported in its July 25, 2008 issue. Impact is measured by average number of citations per paper. Northwestern averages 30.5, while next-in-line Harvard registers 26.2. The top-cited paper was written by Frank Joseph Palella, Jr, Department of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Division, Feinberg School of Medicine, and published in the March 26, 1998 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. |
