Welcome

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is designated by Northwestern University (NU) to review, to approve the initiation of, and to conduct periodic review of research involving human subjects or materials obtained from human subjects. Federal law and/or NU policy mandates prior written and dated IRB approval of all such research regardless of the funding source. The Institution's Federalwide Assurance Identification number as filed with the Department of Health and Human Services is FWA 0000-1549.

NEW    Gadolinium Update

Based on more recent evidence, OPRS has decided to require the following language be included in all consent forms involving Gadolinium “for all patients, a creatinine is required within 30 days prior to MRI. It is up to the discretion of the radiologist, based on a patient’s history, whether an additional creatinine is required, even if the patient had one within 30 days prior to MRI.  Where clinically indicated (e.g. patients with severe or end-stage renal disease) creatinine or eGFR is to be done at the time of the MRI”
