Lauran Qualkenbush - Associate Director

Lauran's responsibilities in ORI include responding to allegations of human and animal subjects misconduct, conducting audits and investigations relative to research compliance issues, delivering education to administration and faculty, and working closely with OPRS and the University research community to oversee and develop OPRS policies with respect to compliance expectations.

Lauran has been involved in research since 1996. She worked as a clinical research coordinator at the University of Chicago for over five years in the department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. During this time she conducted many industry-sponsored clinical trials as well as NIH funded studies. In May 2001, Lauran joined the OPRS at Northwestern University, where she has been involved in all aspects of human subject research compliance through the IRB. Most recently she served as the Associate Director for Training and Quality Assurance where her responsibilities included training OPRS staff members, NU researchers and IRB members to ensure quality and compliance throughout the process.

Lauran holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and has been an ACRP certified clinical research coordinator since 2000.
