Select Agent Registration

The "Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996" established new provisions to regulate transfer of certain biological agents and toxins (i.e., select agents). To comply with this rule, Northwestern University has registered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If principal investigators wish to transfer material in or out of the university, they must provide information in advance so the registration can be updated. Laboratories registered with the CDC are subject to inspection by that agency. Contact ORS for further information.
