Regular lab coat cleaning is required.  Lab coats are potentially biologically or chemically contaminated and therefore cannot be delivered to a cleaning service that is not prepared to deal with those conditions.  Only companies that have described themselves as qualified for receiving contaminated apparel are acceptable.  Contaminated lab coats are not to be taken home or to dry cleaners or laundry services that are uninformed or untrained. 

VWR International, preferred supplier of laboratory and research products at Northwestern, now offers lab coat laundry services. They will pick up and deliver your lab coats at no extra charge and there is no contract, you may stop your service at any time, without penalty. There is a one-week turnaround time between lab coat pick up and delivery. Your lab coats will come cleaned, pressed and hung. All garments are thoroughly inspected; any items with tears, missing buttons, or stains are repaired at no charge.

The cost for lab coat cleaning is $2.06. There is no longer a one-time barcode fee of $1.00. You may use your CUFS number, PO, blanket PO or credit card to pay for the service.
