ORS attaches a label to each waste container identifying the lab of origin and reserves the right to return waste to the generating laboratory for correction. Investigators may be responsible for extraordinary costs of disposing of mixed wastes if advance approval to generate them was not obtained. Proper packaging and lawful description of radioactive waste is of such importance that each generator must be aware of and follow a multitude of very specific rules and regulations.
