Hazardous Materials Shipping Information

Hazardous material shipping is regulated by the Department of Transportation. Shippers who disregard these regulations face fines and jail time. ORS provides assistance and training to help University faculty, staff, and students comply with these regulations.

The Hazardous Materials Shipping Policy for Laboratories establishes the roles and responsibilities of the hazardous materials shipper and describes the services that ORS provides.

Contact the Office for Sponsored Research when proprietary materials are transferred in or out of Northwestern.
