Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

The Summer program provides exposure to drug discovery research for undergraduates potentially interested in graduate education in this area. Students work on an aspect of an ongoing research project with a faculty member for a period of approximately 8-10 weeks duration, details being arranged with the supervising faculty member. In addition to the research experience, there is a weekly luncheon lecture series. The luncheon lecture series provides an environment for participants to meet and interact as a group on a regular basis and adds a structured educational experience that complements the laboratory research experience provided by the faculty member. The program is both in-depth and diverse. Students with quantitative backgrounds and a potential interest in Life Sciences are especially encouraged to apply. Applications for summer 2008 are being accepted from September 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008. Information on applying and a downloaded application form are below.

If selected, you will receive a monthly stipend of approximately $1600 (before taxes). You are responsible for housing, meals and incidental expenses.

Applications should consist of:

1. a personal statement (< 2 pages) that includes past research experience and present research interests;
2. a one to two page Rèsumè
3. transcript of courses completed or presently enrolled, which includes your GPA. An official or unofficial transcript can be scanned and sent electronically;
4. two letters of recommendation.
