ORS Glove Selection Resources

In-House Resources

  1. ACGIH "Guidelines for the Selection of Chemical Protective Clothing" available as a reference in the Office for Research Safety.

Manufacturers

  1. Best Manufacturing provides ChemRest on-line for glove choices.
  2. North Safety Products allows you to download free interactive software for glove selection, but you need to provide your name and contact information.
  3. Ansell provides an on-line program called SpecWare and a PDF file available from its home page.
  4. Microflex offers an on-line chemical resistance chart for 97 commonly used chemicals. Click on the first letter of the chemical to see how latex, nitrile, and Chloroprene will resist it.
  5. Kimberley-Clark provides a chemical resistance and barrier guide for their glove selection.
  6. MAPA provides a chemical resistance chart for its gloves.
  7. Marigold Industrial does not offer any resistance charts on-line, but its Web site suggests contacting your local representative for an informational brochure.

Universities

  1. The School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol discusses "The Choice and Use of Chemically Resistant Gloves" and provides links to information at other schools.
  2. Oklahoma State University offers a chemical guide for several types of gloves and lots of other safety information.
  3. Michigan State University has a searchable guide to the "Selection and Usage of Chemically-Resistant Gloves."
  4. The University of Maryland has a Glove Chemical Resistance Guide.
  5. North Carolina State University has a Hand Protection / Reference Guide.
  6. The University of Kentucky offers other pertinent glove links here.
