NIH PI Compliance Requirement NIH recently issued a notice about a change in its procedures, removing the PI signature from the grant application. (See http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-06-054.html for more information.) According to the notice, Northwestern is still required to obtain and retain a written assurance from the PI prior to proposal submission. The assurance has been added to the OSR-1 form available at http://www.northwestern.edu/orsp/forms.html . When a PI signs the OSR-1 form under the endorsement section (pg. 4), this signature will also suffice for the NIH Certification requirement for NIH proposals. In the event the RFA or PA allows for multiple PIs, all Northwestern PIs will be certifying when they sign and date the OSR-1. (For competing applications submitted for submission/receipt
dates May 10, 2006 and thereafter.)
